I suppose running in Yorkshire is no different to running anywhere else in the UK except we have some bloody big hills here =0)
Not only am I lucky enough to have some of the best countryside lanes to run in, but also some of the best views and wildlife too. Just this week I have run 25 miles in just 2 runs and tend to run 'wild', i.e. no planned route or distance, and could possibly end up anywhere, and not see another person for hours with the possible exception of other runners or walkers. On these 2 runs I have seen a whole host of birds including jays, long tailed tits, woodpecker, sparrow hawk, kestrel, kingfisher, barn owl. Plus other wildlife like deer, fox and hares.
On the flip side of the coin, I'm visiting the beautiful city of Orlando, Florida during November and December (2010) and re-running my first ever half marathon I first ran in 2007. I'll be training there for a couple of weeks prior to the race to acclimatise to the heat and humidity. This will be a special race for me, not only because my intention is to retire from competetive races and running and just want to make more time my 'wild' running in Yorkshire with friends.
I do of course, reserve the right to change my mind, especially if my sponsors come up with enough cash for my charity fund raising for Cancer research UK
